Board Member Message

As we march forward into the spring, I am filled with pride for the amazing work we continue to do in our district, and I want to take a moment to reflect on the progress we’ve made together and the exciting initiatives ahead.

Cell phone use in the classroom has been a topic of interest for Florida state leaders, school district leaders, teachers, and parents alike since Governor DeSantis signed House Bill 379, limiting cell phone use in schools, in May of 2023.

As we turn the page on a new calendar year, I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season filled with joy, relaxation, and cherished moments with loved ones.

I hope this message finds you well; it’s hard to believe we are upon completing the first half of the 2024-2025 school year. It is a privilege to serve as your county-wide school board member.

As a School Board Member for the School District of Lee County, I’m grateful to connect with you to address questions, share updates, and celebrate the many accomplishments of our District.

The beginning of the school year is always such an exciting time. It's when school staff come back together after the summer, ready to inspire and support our students, and when students return eager to reconnect with their classmates.

It's hard to believe we are just a few days away from welcoming our students back for the 2024-25 school year.

As summer vacation is in full swing, we need to take a moment to appreciate our hardworking staff and make sure they too are taking this time to rejuvenate and relax.

As we come to the end of the school year, it is my pleasure to update you on what has been happening at The School District of Lee County since my previous article.

As we embark on this last quarter I want to welcome Dr. Ken Savage back to the role of Superintendent. He served this District well during the last transitionary period and I am confident he will provide our students and staff stability in the months ahead
