Supporting and serving schools to ensure student success

The Department of Planning, Growth, and Capacity plays a vital role in monitoring current student enrollment and projecting future trends to support the effective planning of future school sites. Our department is dedicated to providing comprehensive services to the School District, local governments, and community members on a wide range of topics related to urban and regional planning. We achieve this by conducting annual projections of student enrollment for the next ten years, allowing us to identify areas within the district that may experience capacity challenges. In response, we diligently research and secure land assets in these areas to facilitate future school development. During the design phase of a new school, our department is committed to ensuring compliance with the Florida Department of Education (DOE) State Requirements for Educational Facilities (SREF) standards. Throughout these initiatives, we maintain ongoing collaboration with Lee County and local municipalities to ensure that our capacity planning addresses future residential developments. Simultaneously, we strive to keep Lee County and its municipalities well-informed about the planning and progress regarding future schools and their respective locations.
