Aspiring Teachers

Aspiring Teachers

Welcome

Congratulations on joining a district that takes pride in Educational Excellence! Our district believes in the importance of teachers and what they do in the classroom. Our district has made great academic strides in our schools and now you have a wonderful opportunity to effect change! We encourage our aspiring teachers and interns to grow professionally, help our students become better readers, regardless of their subject area, and to prepare students for learning.

We want to make sure that you experience success in your journey to becoming a teacher. I encourage you to find creative ways to make Lee County Public Schools the center for educational excellence. I know you will provide the very best instruction to your students.

My best wishes for you on this endeavor!

Lynn Herrell, Professional Development & Recruitment Executive Director

"Grow Your Own" Scholarship

The "Grow Your Own" scholarship program's goal is to assist with creating a local pipeline of educators to aid in our current teacher shortage. The Suncoast Credit Union Foundation has made a contribution to the District of $50,000 with the potential of adding incrementally for a total of $250,000. This program will provide scholarship opportunities to current paraprofessionals and to graduating high school seniors interested in pursuing a career in education.

Fingerprint Information

All prospective interns are required to be fingerprinted and complete the background screening process. They must also meet the District’s hiring guidelines. Interns will not be allowed into the classroom until this process  has been completed and they have received notification from their applicable contact at the college/university that clearance has been received from the Department of Professional Standards and Equity.
