Wellness Wednesdays
During the 2019-2020 school year, the State Board of Education passed rules related to health education impacting middle and high school students. The District designates ten dates as Wellness Wednesdays to engage students in this learning. The time set aside on each Wellness Wednesday provides students with tools to engage their learning and support our families in the development of the whole child.
Students enrolled in grades 6 through 12 will receive instruction in mental and emotional health education and students in kindergarten through grade 12 will receive instruction on child trafficking prevention and substance use and abuse health education. Each lesson is developmentally appropriate by grade level and progresses from year to year as students move to the next grade level. All instruction is in alignment with Florida State Statute 1003.42 (2) and State Board of Education Rules. School districts are required to annually report to the Commissioner of Education how instruction was provided on each of these topics. The annual report may be reviewed by visiting the Florida Required Instruction Portal.
