Advisory Committee Information

Please Note: Board Advisory Committees meeting will be virtual until futher notice. If you wish to make a public comment, please send your comment via email to the committee’s recording secretary. The email address of each recording secretary may be accessed by clicking on the appropriate committee link, below.

Board Advisory Committees will follow the Board’s public comment process:

  • The recording secretary will read the comments while being timed.
  • The number of comments read are based on the number of comments submitted.
  • Each comment will have a maximum of three minutes.
  • The public comment section portion of the meeting will be limited to no more than one hour.
  • If more than 20 comments are received, time per comment will be reduced to two minutes.
  • If more than 30 comments are received, time per comment will be reduced to one minute.
  • No more than 60 comments will be read.
  • All comments must be received 2 hours before the meeting begins and are limited to 3000 characters.

School Board advisory committees shall consist of qualified members from the community whose purpose shall be to provide input, advice and support to the School Board on topics identified by the School Board as specific to each committee.

School Board members choose and approve committee members around August every year. Members shall serve two-year terms beginning in September of each year with the exception of the District Advisory Council (DAC) whose members serve one-year terms. Citizens may be appointed to serve additional terms on the same committee.

Online applications will be taken continually to be considered for appointments made when vacancies occur throughout the appointment year(s) on each of the committees. In appointing members to the Advisory Committees, the Board shall make every effort to reflect the racial and ethnic composition of the community population whenever possible. In addition, Board Members will seek to appoint citizens with knowledge and skills that are beneficial to specific committees. All meetings are open to the public at all times. All advisory committee meetings will be videotaped and uploaded to the District's YouTube channel. Each committee shall be subject to the Sunshine Law.
