Once again, Dunbar High School has another talented student ready to compete for a national title.

Out of the hundreds of thousands of Microsoft competitors for the State of Florida, Dunbar High School continues to dominate. With bragging rights to 14 State Champions, 8 National Champions, and 3 World Champions, Dunbar High School is thrilled to announce its 15th Florida State Champion!

Freshman student Kevin Dimaculangan has been named a Florida State Champion in Microsoft Excel, because of his exceptionally high score on the Microsoft Office Excel certification test at Dunbar High School’s Academy for Technology Excellence.

Kevin Dimaculangan will now have the opportunity to compete against the top qualifiers from around the United States for Certiport’s 2018 Microsoft Office Specialist U.S. National Championship at the Marriott Marquis in Atlanta, Georgia, June 13-15, 2018.

“Dunbar has a legacy of champions in our technology programs. Every year extraordinary students beat out other students from around the state, nationally and the world. We have set an achievement standard that allows these incredibly talented students to thrive and grow, while adding something remarkable to their resumes and college applications,” said Carl Burnside, Principal.

“Proud moments are what we strive for at Dunbar High School. We motivate our students to pursue those extraordinary activities that will enrich their school experiences and make them stand out from their peers,” said Denise Spence, IT Programs Manager.

“As a competitor in this national competition, Kevin will get recognition for his hard work and dedication to technology excellence,” said his technology teacher, Jason Caissie. “In the past students that have competed in these competitions have earned opportunities at well-recognized universities and even Ivy League schools. There is no doubt in my mind that Kevin will go on to achieve great things.”
