2026-2027 LCSD Student Enrollment Waitlist Fact Sheet
Waitlist Eligibility and Status
If a student's choice application was completed during the open enrollment period and they did not receive their number 1 ranked school, they are automatically placed on the waitlist for that specific school. Placement for the number 1 ranked school is determined by the results of the School Choice Lottery. No further action or application is required from the parent or guardian to initiate or maintain this status.
Waitlist Activity Timeframes
The waitlist remains active during three specific phases throughout the school year.

Placement Communication Protocols
As seats become available at a student's number 1 ranked school, the Student Enrollment office will provide notification of a change of placement. Communication is strictly limited to the following two channels:
- Email
- The Focus Parent Portal
Parents and guardians should monitor these platforms regularly, as notifications are not provided through any other methods.
Waitlist Opt-Out Procedure
If a student is currently enrolled in a school and the parent or guardian wishes for them to remain at that school and forfeit their spot on the waitlist, they must complete the following steps:
- Log into the Focus Parent Portal.
- Locate the Forms label on the left-hand side.
- Select and complete the Giving up your current waitlist spot form.
Warning: Completion of the Giving up your current waitlist spot form is final. Once submitted, the child cannot be placed back on the waitlist for the 2026-2027 school year.
The waitlist does not apply to students enrolled in ESE specialized self-contained programs. Families may contact Student Enrollment by emailing [email protected] to inquire about other possible options.
