As we move into the season of gratitude, I’m reminded of how much we have to be thankful for here in The School District of Lee County. November gives us the perfect opportunity to pause and appreciate the students, families, educators, and community members who work together every day to make our schools exceptional.

Our fall sports season has come to a close, and I want to congratulate all our student-athletes, coaches, and supporters for a great football season and for representing their schools with pride and teamwork. Whether on the field, on the stage, or in the classroom, our students continue to show that excellence takes many forms—and they make us proud every step of the way.

This season also brings exciting progress in one of our growing initiatives—school gardens. Across the district, students are learning valuable lessons about sustainability, nutrition, and responsibility by cultivating their own produce. These gardens not only provide fresh food for our cafeterias but also teach lifelong lessons about caring for our environment and working together. Watching our students take ownership of these projects reminds us that hands-on learning can nurture both knowledge and character.

As we celebrate Veterans Day, we honor the brave men and women who have served our nation. Their courage and sacrifice remind us of the importance of service and community. Many of our schools will host ceremonies and activities to show appreciation for our local veterans, and I encourage everyone to take part in honoring their contributions.

Looking ahead to Thanksgiving, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to our teachers and staff who continue to inspire and guide our students each day. Their dedication is the heartbeat of our district, and their impact reaches far beyond the classroom.

To our parents and guardians—you are an essential part of your child’s educational journey. Your involvement makes a tremendous difference. Whether you’re volunteering, attending performances and games, or simply encouraging your student to do their best, your support helps create a strong foundation for learning. Together, we can continue to empower every child to reach their fullest potential.

Our students are thriving in our academies, arts programs, and extracurricular activities, developing into well-rounded individuals who are ready to lead and contribute to their communities. Their achievements are a reflection of the strong partnerships between schools, families, and the greater Lee County community.

As we reflect on all that we have accomplished and look toward the opportunities ahead, I am filled with gratitude for the privilege of serving you. The School District of Lee County continues to grow, innovate, and inspire—and that is because of each of you.

This Thanksgiving season, may we all take time to appreciate the blessings around us: our families, our students, our educators, and our shared commitment to a brighter future. Together, we are building a community where every student can learn, grow, and succeed.

Wishing you all a warm and joyful Thanksgiving filled with gratitude and togetherness.

Respectfully,
Debbie Jordan
School Board Member, District 4
