Wellness Wednesdays LogoWellness Wednesdays

During the 2019-2020 school year, the State Board of Education passed rules related to health education impacting middle and high school students. The District designates ten dates as Wellness Wednesdays to engage students in this learning. The time set aside on each Wellness Wednesday provides students with tools to engage their learning and support our families in the development of the whole child.

Students enrolled in grades 6 through 12 will receive instruction in mental and emotional health education and students in kindergarten through grade 12 will receive instruction on child trafficking prevention and substance use and abuse health education. Each lesson is developmentally appropriate by grade level and progresses from year to year as students move to the next grade level. All instruction is in alignment with Florida State Statute 1003.42(2) and State Board of Education Rules. School districts are required to annually report to the Commissioner of Education how instruction was provided on each of these topics.

Health instruction is key in supporting our families and the whole child. The school district is committed to see our students through their successes and their challenges with an intentional focus on student health and well-being. Parents and guardians are encouraged to watch each month’s video lesson and engage with their student(s) in conversation about this learning. Each month during the week of Wellness Wedneday, the middle and high school student video lesson will be posted for parents/guardians to watch and a school messenger will be sent to alert parents/guardians that the monthly video has been posted. The lessons are listed below.
