Ray Pottorf's Unit on Weather

On November 19, 2025, Ray V Pottorf's gifted class reached out to the community and invited Ms. Sara Blue from GC News to discuss, explain, and connect how natural disasters occur and how a community can better prepare and respond to these naturally occurring phenomena.

These students investigated how flooding and landslides impacted the path that Hurricane Helene left behind. They engineered different slopes and used loose gravel & water to simulate the event.

These creative minds were able to critically solve problems in different ways and elaborate on why the engineering process is imperative to our daily lives.
