2022-2023

Instructional staff who complete a certification test in a critical teacher shortage area and add the subject area to their Florida Educator’s Certificate will be eligible for a one-time incentive payment to reimburse the cost of testing. Reimbursement will be for testing fees only and will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis until funds are no longer available.  In accordance with FL DOE requirements, instructional staff must have received a “highly effective” or “effective” rating on their most recent Final Performance Evaluation in order to be eligible for this incentive.

Limitations

  • Reimbursement is only available to currently-employed instructional staff members covered by the TALC agreement.
  • Reimbursement is only available for examinations passed on or after July 1, 2022, and before June 1, 2023.
  • All requests for reimbursement must be received in Staffing & Talent Management, Human Resources by June 2, 2023.
  • This program is funded by the District’s ESEA Title II-A grant, which may or may not be continued in future years.
  • Reimbursement will be for testing fees only and will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis until funds are no longer available.
  • Reimbursement will be provided only for the actual cost of regular administrations.  Reimbursement for late or emergency registrations will be limited to the amounts of the comparable regular on-time registration.
  • Reimbursement is only available for examinations in a critical teacher shortage area.
  • Reimbursement will only be provided for test administration(s) for which the applicant received a passing score.
  • Applicant may be reimbursed for multiple subject area examinations in a critical teacher shortage area.
  • The General Knowledge Exam and the Professional Education Exam are not covered under this Reimbursement Program.
  • Applicant must have received a Highly Effective or Effective rating on their 2021-2022 Final Performance Evaluation.

How to Apply for Reimbursement

The following documents must be submitted to Staffing & Talent Management, Human Resources in order to participate in the Subject Area Examination Reimbursement Program:

  1. Completed Subject Area Examination Reimbursement Request Form (one request form required per subject area examination)
  2. Copy of registration receipt(s) reflecting examination amount(s) and payment(s).
    • You may contact the FTCE/FELE Testing Center at 1-866-613-3281 to obtain a duplicate registration receipt. Please note that a credit card receipt or bank statement is not acceptable.
  3. Copy of your subject area examination score report(s).
  4. Florida Educator’s Certificate showing area added or FL DOE application to Add a Subject and payment.
  5. Final Performance Evaluation for 2021-2022 showing Highly Effective or Effective rating.
