Health & Physical Education

The mission of the Physical Education Program is to develop in students the skills, knowledge, motivation, and behaviors that promote student achievement and a lifelong commitment to wellness centered around a healthy and physically active lifestyle.

The 5-2-1-0 Plan for a Healthier Active Lifestyle! If you haven’t seen this message yet, you will as this campaign to help fight childhood obesity is spreading throughout Lee, Hendry and Glades Counties through pediatricians, schools, child care centers, WIC, and many other organizations under the Healthy Lee (formerly Fit Friendly) community umbrella. In March 2012 Lee County Health Department and Family Health Centers of Southwest Florida were selected along with 40 communities nationwide to participate in the Healthy Weight Collaborative to help further develop a community action plan promoting a healthy lifestyle. Family Health Center pediatricians and WIC nutritionists are now offering a “Prescription for a Healthier, Active Life” to their families modeled after the one chosen by the American Academy of Pediatrics to encourage four basic components.
