Rotary Club Gives Free Dictionaries to All Third Grade Students

Every third grade student in the School District of Lee County received a free dictionary on Friday, October 12th. The Rotary Clubs of Lee County are once again generously supporting our schools.

The goal of “The Dictionary Project” is to assist all 3rd grade students to complete the school year as good writers, active readers and creative thinkers. A dictionary is a powerful reference tool that every child should own. Its usefulness goes beyond spellings, pronunciations and definitions. It is also a companion for solving problems in their reading, writing, and creative thinking abilities.

Since 1999, Lee County Rotarians have distributed approximately 160,000 English and Spanish Dictionaries at a cost in excess of $300,000.
