The School District of Lee County is excited to announce that South Fort Myers High School’s Elite 8 Speaker Series will air on Gulf Coast NBC on Sunday, May 11th at 11:00 a.m. The inaugural event, held on January 28th at South Fort Myers High School, featured eight of the region’s most accomplished entrepreneurs and leaders delivering TED-style talks to ignite creativity, foster innovation, and spark a passion for entrepreneurship among students.

The Elite 8 Talk welcomed 500 students and educators from the School District of Lee County and Florida Gulf Coast University. The distinguished speakers included Dr. Denise Carlin (Superintendent, School District of Lee County), Bill Daubmann (President & Owner, My Shower Door), Gary Griffin (CEO, B & I Contractors, Inc.), Teri Hansen (Founder & President, Priority Marketing/Author), Tracy McMillion (Chief, Fort Myers Fire Department), Joe North (Attorney, The North Law Firm), Ron Rice (President, Patient Preferred Financial Services), and Alfie Tounjian (CFP®, RFC®, Founder & President, Advantage Retirement Group).

Spearheaded by South Fort Myers High Entrepreneurship Program director Kevin Schell, and Career Advisory Board Chairman Bill Daubmann, the Elite 8 Speaker Series also paired eight exceptional students with these accomplished leaders for personalized mentorship, offering practical knowledge and hands-on exposure to the entrepreneurial mindset. Students attending the event received information on how to apply for this transformative opportunity.

Professionally recorded, The Elite 8 has been transformed into a 30-minute TV show by Lee Schools TV. The broadcast on Sunday morning on Gulf Coast NBC will extend the event’s reach to inspire a broader audience of students throughout Southwest Florida.
