School District of Lee County Announces Performance-Driven Focus

The School District of Lee County, under the direction of Superintendent Dr. Denise Carlin, is pleased to announce that the work has officially begun to streamline the district’s central office operations by reducing unnecessary bureaucracy. A comprehensive review of the district’s organizational structure has led to the development of a “right-sized” organizational chart that will more effectively support the district’s performance-driven focus and better serve the community. It is important to note these changes only impact the central office and do not impact school-based teachers or support staff.

In addition to these organizational changes, each department within the district has been directed to thoroughly analyze their budgets and have successfully identified cost-saving opportunities. As part of this initiative, all departments have identified 5% reductions in their budgets, resulting in an impressive $15.9 million in savings.

As part of this broader efficiency effort, the district is recommending adjustments to over 50 positions, aimed at improving efficiency and aligning resources with the district’s priorities. These proposed adjustments are expected to result in significant cost savings, with an estimated $1 million identified.

“We are committed to ensuring that our resources are used in the most effective way possible to benefit our students and staff,” said Superintendent Dr. Denise Carlin. “By refining our organizational structure, we are taking an important step toward maximizing efficiency, reducing bureaucracy, and redirecting savings where they matter most – our schools and our students.”

This restructuring marks a new chapter for the district as it moves forward with a more efficient, cost-effective approach to supporting its performance-driven focus. With these changes, the district is poised for a brighter, more financially sustainable future.
