Dunbar High School Celebrates its 8th Microsoft National Champion

The School District of Lee County is excited to announce that Dunbar High School has achieved yet another milestone in technology education. Student Brenden Fruauff is the school’s eighth Microsoft Office Specialist National Champion. Brenden won the Microsoft PowerPoint (Microsoft 365 Apps) division, further establishing Dunbar High School as a top-tier program for Microsoft certifications.

"It was a huge shock, but I am so proud of myself, and I am grateful that my efforts weren't for nothing,” Brenden said. “Also, I would say to others, don't give up and keep practicing to achieve your goals. Additionally, I would like to thank Mrs. Denise Spence, who pushed me to take part in the competition and my parents, who continued to encourage me since the beginning."

During the competitive event, finalists were tested on their knowledge and mastery of Word, Excel, or PowerPoint. First-place winners received a $3,000 cash prize, those in second place earned $2,000, and third-place winners took home $1,000. The champions in each program, along with a chaperone, have also won a trip to participate in the 2025 Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship.

With this accomplishment, Dunbar High School has now produced a total of 37 Certiport® Microsoft Office Specialist Florida State Champions, eight National Champions, and three Microsoft World Champions. Brenden can also boast of earning over 29 IT certifications from Microsoft and CompTIA through his dedication to advanced networking courses at Dunbar High School.

"Brenden's achievement exemplifies the dedication and excellence that define our students at Dunbar High School,” said Principal Carl Burnside. “His success, along with our remarkable track record of producing national and world champions, reflects our commitment to providing world-class technology education. We are incredibly proud of Brenden and excited to watch him represent our school and our country on the world stage."

The 2025 Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship will be held in Orlando, Florida, from July 27 – 30. More than one hundred other finalists from countries across the globe have entered the competition.
