The School District of Lee County is proud to announce that four Dunbar High School students are 2022 Certiport® Microsoft Office Specialist Florida State Champions. All four students have been invited to compete in the Microsoft Office Specialist U.S. National Championship in Dallas, Texas June 20th through the 22nd.
The 2022 state champions are:
- Andrew Chaung Saladin in Excel 2016
- Carson Mulvey in Excel 2019
- Isabel Liu in PowerPoint 2019
- Jaansi Parsa in PowerPoint 2016
Three of this year’s state champions have already had national and international success. Andrew Chuang Saladin is the reigning state, national and world champion in PowerPoint 2019. Carson Mulvey is the reigning state and national champion in PowerPoint 2016. He finished second at the 2021 World Championship. Jaansi Parsi is the reigning state champion in Excel 2016. She finished second in the 2021 national competition.
Since Dunbar began competing in 2011, the school has had 29 state champions and the rare distinction of having three Microsoft World Champions and six national champions.
“It is outstanding to see our students continually place at the state, national, and world levels.” Says Dunbar High School Principal Carl Burnside. “Once students have that taste for success, that success drives them to attain even more. It is also a credit to our teachers who continue to produce champions year after year, setting the standard for high schools in the area of technology in the United States.”
The winner of the U.S. National Championship will receive a $3,000 scholarship, trophy, certificate, and an invitation to compete at the Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship in Anaheim, California at the end of July.
