The School District of Lee County Donates Christmas Gifts to 500 Children

Students, teachers, staff and administrators of the School District of Lee County proudly donated more than 1,500 gifts for 500 children as part of the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program this week. The donation is the largest for an Angel Tree host in Lee County.

Individual schools started collecting gifts several weeks ago. An Angel Tree was also set up in the Lee County Public Education Center. Over the last couple of weeks, the school’s brought what was collected to the District Offices and added to the administrative staff’s donations for delivery to the Salvation Army.

“It was truly inspiring to fill two box trucks full of bikes, toys & clothing for our students,” says Resource Development Coordinator Kaleigh Rodden. “We have such a generous community and this was a great reminder of the true meaning of Christmas.”

The gifts will be distributed to families this weekend. Each child receive a full set of clothing and four toys.

The Angel Tree is a partnership with local businesses, clubs, churches and individuals who want to make Christmas bright for disadvantaged children. Thousands of children in Lee County receive new toys, clothing and gifts for Christmas through the Salvation Army.
