Mariner High Student Awarded $500 FSBA Student Scholarship

Mariner High School 2021 graduate Danyella Orjuela was awarded a $500 scholarship from the Florida School Boards Association (FSBA).

The scholarship was bestowed to Danyella by Debbie Jordan, Chair of the Lee County School Board. Jordan was the winner of the 2020 FSBA/FADSS Annual Joint Conference Leader Board competition, which enabled her to grant the FSBA Student Scholarship to a student in her district. Debbie Jordan participated in various networking and engagement activities to earn points and was the top points recipient among 336 conference attendees. The scholarship provided by FSBA is given to assist a student with the financial cost associated with pursuing post-secondary education goals.

“FSBA is excited to present this scholarship in Lee County to a deserving student, says FSBA Executive Director Andrea Messina. “We are honored to support student achievement and future academic endeavors in this way.”

The Florida School Boards Association is the professional membership association for school boards in Florida. The mission of FSBA is to increase student achievement through the development of effective school board leadership and advocacy for public education.
