The School District of Lee County is celebrating the 7th Annual School Lunch Hero Day by surprising some of our cafeteria staff with a School Lunch Hero Award. Kellogg’s is providing “Appreciation Baskets” that include Rice Krispy treat sheets, School Lunch Hero buttons and other goodies.

“Our cafeteria staffs do amazing work every day offering a free and healthy breakfast and lunch to every student in the District, so it was hard not to recognize them all as School Lunch Heroes,” says Food and Nutrition Services Director Lauren Couchois. “Ultimately though, four stood out for going above and beyond the exceptional service we offer every day and we are proud to honor them for their commitment.”

The four cafeteria staffs being honored as School Lunch Heroes are:

  • Bayshore Elementary
  • Riverdale High School
  • South Fort Myers High School
  • Tortuga Preserve Elementary

School Lunch Hero Day, celebrated annually since 2013, was designated by The School Nutrition Association and Jarrett Krosoczka, author of the “Lunch Lady” graphic novel series. School Lunch Hero Day provides an opportunity for parents, students, school staff and communities to thank those who provide healthy meals to 30 million of America’s students each school day.
