“Dress for Success” at Fort Myers High School

Fort Myers High School students are about to get a special lesson in how to make a good first impression. More than 1,000 ties have been donated to the school to hand out during a “Dress for Success” event on Tuesday, April 2nd.

“We have come to learn many of our students aren’t shown examples of what to wear, what not to wear, shown how to tie a tie, how to shake hands, make eye contact or hold themselves when in the community or at a job interview,” says Fort Myers High School Assistant Principal Jamie Kirschner. “Our mentor program, which meets every two weeks, continues to teach our youth all of these crucial life skills.”

Business and community leaders have been invited to the school to teach the boys how to tie a tie, answer questions in a job interview and present themselves in public. The girls will have a chance to learn the same lessons and see a fashion show displaying appropriate job interview attire.

“It’s imperative for our young men and women to know the importance of dressing the part and always reflecting their best image,” Kirschner adds.
