Lee Home Connect Grab and Go Meals

Grab and Go Meals
For Lee Home Connect and Lee Virtual School Students

Food and Nutrition Services handing food to people in a car

The School District of Lee County will make Grab & Go Breakfast and Lunch meals available to students using the Lee Home Connect Instructional Model and Lee Virtual School. Middle and high schools will be used as the main distribution sites for these meals.

The meals provided, all meet USDA nutritional requirements, will be picked up twice a week. Families will need to come on both Tuesday and Thursday during the assigned times.

  • Tuesday, students will receive two breakfast and two lunches per student
  • Thursday, students will receive three breakfast and three lunches per student

Families will drive through their chosen school site distribution line to pick each week’s meals. The Distribution School Sites will pass out a form for parents to fill out that must be visible through their car’s front windshield for proper identification. Parents will need to add their student’s last name, student’s ID number if applicable and the school they have chosen to pick up meals.

Families with students in more than one school can pick up meals for all their children at a distribution site closest to their home. Please print and fill out the “Meal Pickup Location Transfer Request Form” and turn it into the staff working the meal pick up line. We ask that once you select a school to pick up all your children’s meals at that you stay with that site for the duration of your enrollment in Lee Home Connect and Lee Virtual School.

Breakfast and lunch are free of charge at all 80 traditional Lee County public schools and four special centers through the Food and Nutrition Services Department Community Eligibility Program (CEP). Parents do not need to apply and "Free and Reduced" meal applications will not need to be completed or processed for this benefit.

The Community Eligibility Provision is a non-pricing meal service option for schools and school districts in low-income areas. CEP allows the nation’s highest poverty schools and districts to serve breakfast and lunch at no cost to all enrolled students without collecting household applications.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if I have children enrolled to different schools how am I going to get to all of the schools?

  • Choose the Distribution site school closest to your home.

What happens if the student is NOT on the roster can they still get a meal?

  • Any child, 18 years or younger, is able to receive meals. Choose the Distribution Site that is closest to your home. You will receive a Placard from the distribution site to fill out and place in your windshield. A student ID number is no longer required.

The window for feeding is narrow and when the children are to be logged into class, how am I going to go get meal?

  • A number of factors went into deciding the times for Lee Home Connect families to pick up meals. Among them, we had to avoid conflicts with using bus ramps and parent drop off during school start times. We had to align existing kitchen staff schedules without requiring overtime or changes to work schedules. We had to accommodate the need for the same staff to provide lunch service for the students on campus.

We recommend families to monitor the website for any potential changes.
