Two Students Win National Awards for Cambridge Assessment Tests

The School District of Lee County is proud to announce that two students have won national awards for their performance on the June 2022 Cambridge Advanced International Certificate of Education (AICE) Assessments. The Cambridge Awards celebrate the success of students taking Cambridge examinations around the world. More than a million students study Cambridge International programs in over 160 countries.

Estero High School senior Jack Calder won the Top in Country Award for the Psychology Assessment. Top in Country awards are presented to students who earn the highest standard mark in the nation in an individual subject.

“I’d like to thank Mr. Rimes, my Psychology teacher, for his great teaching!” Calder says. “Psychology is used every day to maintain a happy and healthy lifestyle, and I enjoy learning about it.” His principal, Mike Amabile added, “We are extremely proud of Jack and Mr. Rimes for this wonderful accomplishment! Our Cambridge Program has been providing opportunities for students since 2010, and Jack is another AICE Diploma Recipient who will go on to do incredible things!”

Landon McCarthy, a sophomore at North Fort Myers High School, earned a Top in Country award on the Geography assessment. “This is a greatly appreciated and unexpected honor, in which I am grateful to Mr. Huston and Mrs. Correia for preparing me for the exam,” McCarthy says. “Additionally, I am extremely appreciative that my work has been able to pay off in such an extreme fashion. I'm proud to be representing North Fort Myers High School in this achievement.”
