Hour of Code 2019

‘Hour of Code™’ – Join the Coding Movement! The Career & Technical Education Dept. invites all teachers, students and staff to set aside 1 hour on Wednesday, December 4th to participate in National Computer Science Week and 'Hour of Code™'.  This nationwide initiative introduces K-12 students to computer science and coding.   You and your students can participate in interactive coding lessons, hands-on activities, and enter our District-wide coding competition. 


Teachers, please follow the steps below to get started:

  1. Preview our three levels of coding activities in the following Google Classrooms (COMING SOON) *Please submit student projects or certificates for a chance to win a prize: Student Submissions

  2. Register for The School District of Lee County's 'Hour of Code™' using our Google Form

  3. Designate 1 hour to introduce students to computer science and participate in 'Hour of Code™'. Students join the Google classroom (using class codes above) and complete the coding activities provided. ACE department has designated December 5th as the official Lee County ‘Hour of Code™’ day, but you can participate any time during the week of December 3-7, 2018. Take pictures and tweet your classroom using #LeeHourOfCode.

  4. Interested in having an Hour of Code classroom visitor? Sign up using our Google Sheet.

  5. Want to get recognized nationally? Register your class with https://hourofcode.com/us.
