Community Meeting to Update the Rebuilding of Franklin Park Elementary School

A community meeting to update the plans for the rebuilding of Franklin Park Elementary School is scheduled for Wednesday, May 11th from 6:00pm to 7:00pm in the school’s cafeteria. The meeting will provide the latest information on the design and construction of the new school.

The rebuild, pending state approval at the time, was one of the promises the District made to voters if the half cent sales tax was approved in 2018. All but one classroom building and the gymnasium will be torn down and replaced. Both remaining structures will be completely renovated.

Franklin Park will become the District’s first true community school when it reopens. The United Way, Lee Health, FGCU and other partners will be incorporated into the campus to provide community wrap-around services on site.

Demolition is expected to begin in October and the new school should open in August of 2024. Students will be relocated to a temporary portable campus during the rebuild.
