Pride and Patriotism Art Contest and Celebration

American Flag WavingStudents from the School District of Lee County are set to be honored at Pride and Patriotism of Lee County’s 15th Annual Youth Celebrating the Arts and Honoring Our Veterans Event. The winners from each category and age division will be announced on Thursday November 7, 2019 at the Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts Hall.

The Pride and Patriotism art contest features four categories: Visual Arts: drawing and painting; Visual Arts: photography and digital design; Poetry; and Mini Documentary. The general theme this year is The 100th Anniversary of the Ending of World War I. Each grade level was assigned a topic related to the theme.

K-2 - Veterans Day
3-5 - Leaving Home to go to War
6-8 - Over There
9-10 - Signing the Treaty of Versailles
11-12 - The War to End All Wars

“The Pride and Patriotism Program of Lee County provides a venerating manner to honor our veterans each year,” writes Superintendent Dr. Greg Adkins in support of the program. “The program also provides many of our very talented students a venue to showcase their artistic abilities.”

Pride and Patriotism of Lee County is a non-profit organization that each year creates a Veterans Day program born of advocacy for the arts and love of country. As many as 1,500 people are expected to attend.

Several student groups will play patriotic music during the celebration. The concert, tribute and awards ceremony start at 7:00pm on Thursday November 7th at the Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts Hall. Tickets are $15.
