The School District of Lee County cut the ribbon on a major expansion at Cape Coral Technical College, launching five new workforce training programs and welcoming Nor-Tech Hi-Performance Boats as the college's first-ever Founding Industry Partner.

Green Meadow Elementary has its home away from home while its main campus is being constructed. Portable classrooms have been placed in the back behind Lehigh Senior High School and will hold over 400 students. The new campus is eagerly awaited and is expected to arrive in June of 2028.

Every student in the district’s 83 traditional schools, 5 special centers, and 4 charter school locations will be served breakfast and lunch at no charge.

The $40 million project is funded by the Half-Penny Sales Tax and is meant to replace the historical building that was deemed structurally unsafe by opening up more space for students and staff.

Since June 29, Suffolk Construction have been putting up walls for the Alva High School. The school is on track to open August 2027, and will open up the East Zone by providing 2,000 new student seats and 80 classrooms.

For our next Students at Work feature, we meet Cypress Lake High senior Cheyeanna Warren. She works as a server at The Summit of Fort Myers senior living community.

The School District of Lee County is proud to celebrate the remarkable achievements of the Class of 2026, whose graduates secured a collective $79.9 million in scholarships to fund their higher education and career goals.

Diplomat Middle School Civics teacher Aimee Bailey is heading back to Washington, D.C. This summer, Bailey will attend the prestigious White House History Teacher Institute, not just as a participant, but as an elite Master Teacher helping to lead the national program.

During the month of July, we’ll be highlighting some of our district’s high school students who are working jobs this summer. Our first feature is Oasis High School student, Lilliana Sipe, who works at The Run Shoppe in Cape Coral!

The School District of Lee County is proud to report that the 2025-2026 District Grade Report shows the district earning its highest point total in a decade, alongside tremendous growth across all subject areas and school grades.
