It is safe to say the School District of Lee County did extremely well at the 2025 Florida Invention Convention. Three students won first-place awards, four more placed third, and two won overall awards. None did better than Pinewoods Elementary second grader Hailey Crotteau.

The School Board of Lee County approved the Safe Start Initiative bell times for the 2025-2026 school year starting in August at their April 8, 2025 action meeting. The Safe Start Initiative adjusts school start times to align with the School District’s priorities of safe schools and student achievement.

At the April 8th School Board meeting, the School Board of Lee County demonstrated its unwavering commitment to excellence and fiscal responsibility by voting to approve job descriptions aligned with the newly restructured, right-sized organizational chart.

For the second year in a row, Nicasio David is the Lee County Spelling Bee champion. The Paul Laurence Dunbar Middle School eighth grader correctly spelled mademoiselle to claim the title over 34 other contestants.

Well-deserved congratulations are in order for our Cypress Lake High School Photography Class students. Their work was just selected as a finalist in the Ding Darling Wildlife Society Ted Cross High School Photography Contest.
