Sanibel Sea School
Sanibel Sea School is dedicated to vibrantly teaching children and adults about marine ecosystems - animals, people, plants, land, ocen and weather.  They provide students an opportunity to touch, feel and interact with natural surroundings.  In addition to their standard programs, Sanibel Sea School works with many homeschool groups to design curriculum-based field trips and lessons.  They also provide summer camps and scholarships.

Environmental Learning Center at EVERGLADES WONDER GARDENS

An Environmental Learning Center that focuses on the needs of home based education is being developed at the Everglades Wonder Gardens. The center is working with local educational institutions (Pre-K through Lifelong Learning) to provide classes; course curricula/lesson plans; related activities that promote authentic learning and instructors. Materials can be used without cost by parents who home school, teachers and organizations that address the educational needs of children. The materials are designed to supplement the Florida State Standards including: learning kits, hands-on activities/direct classes, authentic learning experiences, holding student clubs/meetings in the gardens, and live web cams to remotely monitor animal activity.

Providing educational programs that facilitate a deeper understanding of the environment addresses the Everglades Wonder Gardens’ mission to be a “botanical, environmental, educational and wildlife” resource for the greater Southwest Florida community.

Volunteers Needed: Volunteers are needed to help develop class kits that can be borrowed without cost by home schooling parent and youth group educators in the five-county area.
