Registration for the event is now closed.  Please note that we will be accepting a limited number of walk-ins; however, attendees must hold a bachelor's degree and have a direct path to certification.

Where will the Recruitment Fair be held?

The recruitment fair will be held on Thursday, June 22, 2017 at the Lee County Public Education Center (LCPEC), 2855 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, FL 33966-1012.

Do I have to register for the Recruitment Fair in advance?

Yes, you will have to register for the event.

  1. Registration for the event opens on May 13, 2017 and closes on June 16, 2017.
  2. All eligible attendees will receive an invitation email on or before June 19, 2017.

Is professional dress required in order to attend the fair?

Yes, first impressions count. Attendees who are not dressed appropriately will not be allowed to enter the fair. 

Some examples of professional dress are:

  • business suits
  • dress pants (no denim)
  • blouses/dress shirts with tie
  • dress shoes (no tennis shoes or flip flops)
  • work appropriate dresses or skirts

Will interviews be conducted at the Recruitment Fair?

Can I arrange to have interview during the recruitment fair?
Yes, each candidate may arrange interviews with participating schools. Recruits are encouraged to make arrangements with these schools. Return to Top
Will representatives from every school in the county be in attendance?
No; however, several schools will be attending. Return to Top
How do I know which schools to approach for potential interviews?
We advise candidates to read the available information on schools. Many schools offer particular programs, or one might be interested in schools near a particular location. Information about each school is available by clicking on the Schools icon at the top right side of this page. Return to Top
What do I need to do to get the most out of attending the fair?
Come prepared with an ample supply of resumes, copies of letters of reference, copies of teaching certificate or statement of eligibility, and a general idea of which schools to consider.  Return to Top
Will someone verify my references at the fair?
You may bring letters of recommendation, or have previous supervisors complete the instructional applicant reference forms. Per Florida statute, the hiring manager must contact a current or most recent supervisor. Successful recommendations are a stipulation of the contract. Return to Top
Can I be offered a position for the 2017-2018 school year at the recruitment fair?
Yes, contracts will be issued on a case-by-case basis. Return to Top
Will hiring managers be able to view the documents I have submitted electronically?
Yes; however, most will not spend a lot of time reviewing electronic applications at the fair. Return to Top
Should I bring copies of my resume?
Yes, all applicants should bring several copies of a current resume. Return to Top
Should I send copies of my transcripts and teaching certificate to the School District of Lee County in advance?
Yes, send all documents to Human Resources, and be sure to include an Instructional Document Submission Form. Recruits may also deliver documents to the application information station at the recruitment fair. Return to Top
If I have an out-of-state teaching certificate, should I apply for a Florida teaching certificate prior to attending the Recruitment Fair?
Yes, we strongly recommend for candidates to apply for a Florida teaching certificate with the Florida Department of Education, as soon as possible (www.fldoe.org/edcert/). Return to Top
Will staff members be available at the fair to discuss options about Lee County?
Yes, there will be various stations with staff members to discuss certification, highly-qualified verification and other services offered. Return to Top
Will there be opportunities to speak with representatives about non-instructional or administrative positions?
No, the fair is only for people seeking employment as a certified teacher. Return to Top
If a school offers me a position, should I continue to interview with other schools?
No, if you receive a contract with one school, do not continue to interview with others. Return to Top
If I am offered a position, what are the next steps?
First, ensure all required documents have been submitted to Human Resources; second, the secretary from the specific school will be in contact with information about applying to the specific job posting for the positions; third, the school secretary will call with information about new employee orientation and fingerprinting. What if the fair concludes and I have a district contract, but no permanent position?
As long as you meet the requirements specified on the contract, you will have a position in the district for the following school year. The Recruitment Department will advise on the next steps, which will include applying for specific positions online. Return to Top
Are there incentives available for working at particular school (e.g., Title I Schools)?

There are currently plans for “career ladders” for instructional positions. Depending on negotiations with Teachers Association of Lee County (TALC) and budgetary constraints, there may be funds available to teachers at “opportunity schools.”

What if I do not receive an offer at the recruitment fair, can I still be considered for teaching jobs?
Yes; without a contract, you may still apply to job openings. All jobs are posted on Saturday at 12:01 a.m. and close on Friday at 11:59 p.m. Return to Top
Does the School District of Lee County offer any scholarships or funds for continuing education?
Pending the receipt of ESEA Title II-A frant funds, current teachers may apply for reimbursement for up to six credits in courses toward a core subject area (as defined by NCLB) or to meet certification requirements. A teacher may also apply for reimbursement for passing a certification exam for a core subject area. Return to Top
Lee County has a school choice program. If I am moving to the area with children, which school would they attend?
Children of employees also participate in the school choice program. If one wishes to have his or her children attend the school of employment, he or she must complete a waiver request with the School Choice Department. Return to Top
What if I have questions during the recruitment fair, whom should I contact?
