Congratulations to Mariner and Riverdale High School’s JROTC Leadership Teams who placed 9th and 13th respectively at the National All-Services JROTC Academic and Leadership Bowl (JLAB) Competition in Washington DC.

The top 40 teams from around the country qualified for the JLAB finals from more than 1200 teams that began the competition in November 2016. The competition was held at the Catholic University in Washington D.C. from June 23 to the 27th.

Finalists received an all-expense paid trip to the nation’s capital to participate in the face to face portion of the competition.

In addition to the competition, the trip included a meeting with Representative Francis Rooney and tours of the Pentagon, the Smithsonian Museum and visits to Memorials along the National Mall.

The JROTC Leadership & Academic Bowl (JLAB) is a nationally recognized competition created exclusively for JROTC students. By participating, cadets learn the values of citizenship, academic competition, and college opportunity.
