About Us

Our Mission:  To ensure that each student achieves his/her highest personal potential

Our Vision:  To be a world-class school system

Lee County Public Schools is the ninth-largest district in Florida and one of the 50 largest school districts in the United States. We proudly educate nearly 80,000 students in grades K-12. Unlike many school districts, Lee County's population continues to grow. For the 2006/07 school year, Lee County had the highest increase in student enrollment of any district in Florida - in fact, many districts saw their student population decrease, with many of those students making their way to our classrooms.

The reason for this continued growth is obvious - Lee County's 585,000+ residents live and work in an attractive environment. Exotic trees and plants flourish in the subtropical climate, and local waterways support a host of fish, birds and other animals. There are beautiful waterfronts everywhere.

Schools in Lee County play a key role in community life. With approximately 12,000 full- and part-time employees, the School District is the county's largest employer and with the District's construction program building new schools and renovating and expanding existing facilities, the District is also the area's largest developer. Construction projects are always under way to ensure that the area's educational facilities stay abreast with the community's growth.
