Scholarship Overview

These scholarships are available to current employees, interested in pursuing teaching that have a bachelor's degree or higher. The scholarships are provided for the following:

  • Certification Application Fees
  • Certification Exam Fees
  • Professional Educator’s Test
  • General Knowledge Exam Fees
  • Certification and General Knowledge Preparation Materials

Application Process

The scholarship application process for FY19 will be held in September. The application period will open on Monday, September 3rd and close on Friday, September 28th. Applicants will be informed of their application status via email notification by Monday, October 22nd.To be considered for the program, an employee must meet the eligibility guidelines outlined below and submit the following:

  • Completed application
  • Two Letters of Recommendation: One from a teacher or administrator at the school and one personal reference

The scholarship applications will be reviewed by the scholarship committee which will be comprised of District Staff.

Eligibility Guidelines

Scholarships for Certification and General Knowledge Preparation Materials

1. Current employee with the School District of Lee County

2. Must have a bachelor’s degree of higher 

3. Minimum of two consecutive effective performance evaluations

4. Must be willing to sign an agreement indicating that the scholarship is valid for a four month period and that upon completion of all certification requirements, the employee must teach for the District for a three year period

Scholarships for Application Fees, Certification Exam Fees, Professional Educator’s Test and General Knowledge Exam Fees

1. Current employee with the School District of Lee County

2. Must have a bachelor’s degree or higher

3. Minimum of two consecutive effective performance evaluations

4. Must have completed the following and provide documentation on the following:

  • Course Completion (Ex., Certificate of Completion, Attendance Record, Payment Receipt, etc.)
  • Preparation Materials (ex., Study Guides, Manuals, etc.)

5. Must be willing to sign an agreement indicating that the scholarship is valid for a four month period and that upon completion of all certification requirements, the recipient must teach for the District for a three year period.

Can I apply for multiple scholarships?
Yes, you can apply for multiple scholarship areas such as certification exam fees and general knowlegde fees.  You will be able to indicate the scholarship areas of interest on the application. Return to Top

How many scholarships will be awarded?

There will be scholarships awarded in the following areas:

  • Florida Department of Education Application Fees ($75 per scholarship)
  • Florida Department of Education Certification Exam Fees ($200 per scholarship)
  • Florida Department of Education Professional Educator’s Test ($150 per scholarship)
  • Florida Department of Education General Knowledge Exam Fees ($130 per scholarship)

There will be scholarships awarded in the following areas:

  • Certification and General Knowledge Preparation Materials ($50 per scholarship)
