Our Vision: To be a world-class school system
Dear Families and Friends of the School District of Lee County:
On behalf of the nearly 10,000 employees preparing for the arrival of more than 85,000 students, welcome to the 2013-2014 school year! The first day of school is a special one for each of us whether we are expecting a group of kindergartners entering school for the first time or driving a bus full of students returning to familiar teachers and friends or putting the final touches on bulletin boards that offer words of encouragement to students and adults alike. It is a new beginning filled with opportunities to experience success for those who take advantage of them!
Teachers, support personnel, and administrators will be working with you and your children to grow, learn, and amaze themselves every day in school. Our ultimate goal is that student achievement and development remain at the forefront of all we do. I am trusting that you will make it your goal as well.
My opening message to you is the same one I have shared with those in leadership positions throughout the school system since taking the Oath of Office as Superintendent. I want us all to be “superstars,” which simply means each of us will make our corner of the world better for those around us. How we do that will come in a variety of ways including supporting “our” children in their academic and extracurricular pursuits, pressing on together even when we may disagree, and challenging one another to remain focused on our common interest: the children in our schools.
Thank you for your commitment to be engaged in the work of our schools in whatever way you can be during the coming year. There will be moments of discovery, hours of wonder, and a year full of miracles to experience with our students and staff. I look forward to sharing them with you in the months ahead.
Remember, we are in this together!
Nancy J. Graham, Ed. D
